Comparing a new fast-fit prosthetic leg to your current one

This trial is testing a new quick-to-make, custom below-knee prosthetic leg (called the UniLeg). It compares how well it works for daily walking versus your current prosthetic. The goal is to see if the new leg can be made faster and fit better, helping you stay active.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You have a below-the-knee amputation on one leg, and it has been over a year since your surgery.
  • You currently use a prosthetic leg that does not have motors or sensors (a passive device).
  • You do not have diabetes.
  • You live within 50 miles of UCSD in Southern California.
  • You are willing to walk at least 14,000 steps per week (about 1 mile per day) and follow the study schedule.
