Who can take part

  • You must be newly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) confirmed by bone marrow tests.
  • You must be between 18 and 59 years old.
  • You must have a good performance status (ECOG score 0, 1, or 2), meaning you are able to carry out daily activities with little or no help.
  • Your liver, kidney, and heart function must be within a safe range as determined by blood tests and an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound).
  • You must not have a subtype of AML called acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) or core-binding factor AML (CBF-AML).
  • You must not have received any prior treatment for AML (except for a few drugs to control cell counts).
