Light stimulation for nerve damage in the eye

This study tests if a gentle electrical current, like a light flicker, can help people with optic neuropathy (damage to the nerve connecting the eye to the brain). You would attend 30 sessions over 8 weeks. It might improve your vision if you still have some sight left.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a permanent home address.
  • You have been diagnosed with optic neuropathy (nerve damage in one or both eyes).
  • Your vision in at least one eye needs to be 20/400 or better (not completely blind).
  • You can commit to 8 weeks of treatment, with sessions every other day, plus 4 visits for tests.
  • If you cannot do the sessions on your own due to low vision, a family member or caregiver must help you.
