Who can take part

  • You have a traumatic spinal cord injury at or above the T1 level, or a nerve injury in your arm that may require nerve transfer surgery.
  • Your injury occurred less than 6 months ago (acute) or more than 6 months ago (chronic).
  • You have some remaining muscle activity in at least one arm muscle on the affected side, which can be detected by the electrical stimulation.
  • You do not have other conditions like stroke, severe brain injury, or uncontrolled spasms that could interfere.
  • You can commit to up to 4 months of therapy sessions if you are in Aim 2 of the study.
