Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You are having planned (non-emergency) surgery with general anesthesia
- You will need a breathing tube placed through your mouth
- You do not have more than one factor that could make tube placement difficult (like severe obesity, past difficult intubation, limited neck movement, or a small mouth opening)
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are not having neck or throat surgery
- You are not at high risk for food or liquid getting into your lungs during surgery
