  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are in the ICU and need a breathing machine or advanced breathing support
  • Your breathing tube is expected to stay in for more than 24 hours
  • You agree to take part and sign a consent form
  • You haven't taken certain medicines (like nitroglycerin or anti-inflammatory drugs) in the past 6 hours, and you aren't in another research study
