  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have a breathing tube and are on a ventilator
  • You were diagnosed with pneumonia (either from the community or in the hospital) within the last 3 days
  • You do not have certain genetic blood disorders like sickle cell disease or G6PD deficiency
  • Your blood methemoglobin level is less than 3%
