Inhaled Nitric Oxide for ARDS Patients on Non-Invasive Breathing Support

This study tests whether inhaled nitric oxide (a gas you breathe in) can improve oxygen delivery to your lungs in patients with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who are using non-invasive breathing support instead of a breathing tube. The goal is to help your lungs deliver oxygen more efficiently to your blood.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You have ARDS and are receiving non-invasive breathing support (mask or high-flow oxygen) with specific oxygen levels
  • You are awake, alert, and can follow instructions and hold your breath for at least 8 seconds
  • You do not have signs of severe respiratory failure that would require immediate intubation (such as very fast breathing or dangerously high carbon dioxide levels)
  • You do not have unstable heart function, severe bleeding, or a pacemaker/implantable defibrillator in your chest
  • You are not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and not currently in another clinical trial
