  • You have a blood clot in your calf that causes symptoms like pain or swelling, found by ultrasound.
  • The clot is only in your calf, not in your thigh or in your lungs.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are able to give written permission to join the study.
  • You are not confined to bed for most of the day.
  • You do not have a current or recent cancer diagnosis or treatment.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You are not already on blood thinners for another reason.
