Who can take part

  • You have a foot ulcer caused by nerve damage from diabetes.
  • You have type 2 diabetes.
  • Your ulcer is between 6 and 12 square centimeters in size.
  • Your ulcer is grade 2 or 3 (partial or full thickness skin loss, not going through deep tissue).
  • You do not have bone infection (osteomyelitis), cellulitis, or nerve injury in that area.
  • You are not pregnant, a smoker, or taking certain medications like immunosuppressants or phenytoin.
