Infrared light therapy for diabetic foot ulcers

This study tests whether a special type of infrared light (called MIRE) can help heal diabetic foot ulcers that have not healed in 30 days or more. If you have a diabetic foot ulcer with good blood flow and no bone infection, this treatment may help speed up healing.

Who can take part

  • You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
  • You currently have a diabetic foot ulcer that has not healed for at least 30 days.
  • Your ulcer is not too deep or infected (Wagner grade 1 or 2 — meaning it does not reach the bone).
  • You have good blood flow to your leg, confirmed by a simple test like an ankle-brachial index or Doppler ultrasound.
  • You are not pregnant, and you have not had surgery on the affected foot in the last 30 days.
