Who can take part

  • You have chronic kidney disease and need dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours each time.
  • This is your first fistula (a surgical connection between an artery and vein in your arm).
  • Your fistula is new (never punctured before), mature, and in your arm, not using a plastic tube.
  • You expect to be on dialysis for at least 1 year.
  • You use two needles for each dialysis session and can do dialysis through your fistula.
  • The blood flow in your fistula is between 500 and 2,000 mL per minute.
