Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 60 years old.
  • You have focal epilepsy (seizures that start in one part of the brain) that has not been controlled by at least two seizure medicines for 2 years.
  • Your seizures last a minute or more and include a change in awareness or sensation.
  • You have had at least 6 focal seizures in the last 3 months.
  • You are not currently taking a beta-blocker (like propranolol or atenolol) and have not taken one in the last year.
  • You do not have a history of asthma, certain heart conditions, or low blood pressure.
