Ultrasound for belly fat and insulin resistance in women

Who can take part

  • Must be a woman between 25 and 40 years old.
  • Have a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 35, which is considered obese.
  • Waist circumference greater than 88 cm (about 35 inches), meaning extra fat around your belly.
  • Have been diagnosed with insulin resistance (a condition where your body doesn't use insulin well) based on a lab test called HOMA-IR over 2.9.
  • Generally not active—exercising less than 150 minutes a week of moderate activity, like brisk walking.
  • Not have diabetes, heart, liver, or kidney disease, and not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
