  • You have type 2 diabetes.
  • Your waist is larger than 102 cm (40 inches) if you're male, or 88 cm (35 inches) if you're female.
  • Your cholesterol levels are borderline or high risk.
  • You do not have kidney, heart, lung, liver, or nerve diseases.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or a heavy smoker.
  • You do not have a weakened immune system or active cancer.
