Who can take part

  • You are 50 years old or older.
  • You have had type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months and your A1C (average blood sugar) is between 7.2% and 10.0% at the screening visit.
  • You are currently taking 1 to 3 diabetes pills (like metformin, glipizide, or similar) and have been on a stable dose for at least 3 months.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 28 or lower, and your weight has been stable (no more than 11 pounds gained or lost) in the last 3 months.
  • Your kidneys work well enough, with an eGFR of 30 or higher.
  • You have not used insulin injections in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have a history of severe low blood sugar or a condition called hypoglycemia unawareness.
