Who can take part
- You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
- Your body mass index (BMI) must be 30 or higher, or 27 or higher if you also have a weight-related condition like high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
- Your weight must have been stable (within about 11 pounds) for the last 3 months, and it must be less than 330 pounds.
- You must have tried to lose weight before (for example, through diet or exercise) without success.
- You must not be taking any other weight-loss medication now or in the past 30 days.
- If you are a woman who can become pregnant, you must use specific birth control methods and have negative pregnancy tests.
