Who can take part

  • You have a large, irreparable tear in two rotator cuff tendons (supraspinatus and infraspinatus), but not the subscapularis tendon.
  • Your upper arm bone (humeral head) is still centered in the joint on X-ray.
  • Your main problem is pain, not weakness or stiffness.
  • You've had at least one prior shoulder surgery, including a failed rotator cuff repair.
  • You are 65 years or older (the balloon spacer device is FDA cleared for patients over 65).
