Who can take part
- You or your child must be at least 3 years old
- If you have sickle cell disease, you must have the SS or Sβ0 type
- If you are a volunteer without sickle cell disease, you must be free of any blood disorders
- You must not have had a blood transfusion in the last 3 months
- You must not have certain active infections (like hepatitis B, C, or HIV) or other serious health problems
