Testing a new treatment for muscle loss in sarcopenia

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 35 years old (without sarcopenia) or over 65 (with sarcopenia).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 30.
  • If you have sarcopenia, you are scheduled for hip surgery due to arthritis, a past hip problem, a broken hip, or a hip replacement revision.
  • If you do not have sarcopenia, you have an ACL injury requiring surgery.
  • You are not taking medicines or have conditions that affect muscle or bone.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding (if in the control group).
