Using shape-memory polymer to treat the false lumen in aortic dissection

This trial tests a new device made of a special shape-memory polymer that is placed inside the false lumen (the space created by a tear in the aorta) to prevent the aorta from growing larger. It is for people with aortic dissection who need treatment for the false lumen, either as a first treatment or after a previous procedure on the main tear.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a type B aortic dissection (a tear in the wall of the aorta) that hasn't been treated before, OR you have a type B or type A dissection that has been partially treated and now needs treatment for the false lumen (the space created by the tear).
  • You do not have a connective tissue disease like Marfan or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
  • You are not pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • You are not planning to use any other devices to treat the false lumen besides the study device.
