- Had a stroke at least 6 months ago
- Able to follow instructions (score 20 or more on a brief mental test)
- Not received Botox in the legs in the last 3 months
- Able to walk with some help (score 2 or more on a walking scale)
- Has some movement in the affected leg (score 3 or more on a leg recovery scale)
- No severe muscle stiffness in the legs and no other major health conditions like heart, nerve, or bone problems
