Comparing CGM to finger-stick glucose checks in hospitalized adults with type 1 diabetes

Who can take part

  • You have type 1 diabetes (not type 2) and are treated with insulin.
  • You are currently in the hospital with poorly controlled diabetes (blood sugar over 180 mg/dL or A1C over 7%), including conditions like diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • Your doctor expects you to be in the hospital for more than 3 days.
  • You are not in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and do not already use a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) at home.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or have serious liver, kidney, or mental health conditions that would interfere.
