Who can take part

  • You must be obese and scheduled for weight-loss (bariatric) surgery.
  • You cannot have an aneurysm (bulging blood vessel) in your aorta or brain that might rupture, or have had recent blood vessel surgery.
  • You cannot have increased pressure inside your skull, recent bleeding in your brain, or recent head surgery that entered your skull.
  • You cannot have had a stroke, heart attack, unstable chest pain (angina), or a collapsed lung in the last 6 months.
  • You cannot have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • You cannot have had recent eye surgery or a history of a detached retina, or cough up blood without a known cause.
