Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You had a relatively good ability to carry out daily activities before the hematoma (score 0-3 on the modified Rankin Scale)
- The hematoma (collection of blood) on your brain is at least 10mm thick on a scan
- You have at least one of these risk factors: age 75 or older, taking blood thinners, diabetes, hematoma on both sides of the brain, a specific severity score over 3, large hematoma volume (130ml or more), a midline shift of 8mm or more, or a certain appearance on the CT scan
- Your kidney function (creatinine) is below 1.8 and your platelet count is at least 50,000 with normal blood clotting
- Your life expectancy is expected to be more than 6 months
