Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and have a congenital heart defect (a heart problem you were born with).
  • You are planning to have heart surgery to fix a valve or another defect, or you already had this surgery after January 1, 2010.
  • You have had both a coronary angiography (a dye test for your heart arteries) and a heart CT scan within the last 12 months, or you will have both before your surgery.
  • You do not have severe kidney failure that requires dialysis, and you have not had a stroke in the past.
