Who can take part

  • Your child is between 8 and 17 years old and in the hospital for a severe belly infection (like a ruptured appendix or a belly abscess).
  • Your child will need to stay in the hospital for at least 4 days and will receive the study drug (eravacycline) through an IV line for up to 14 days.
  • Your child’s kidneys must be working well (eGFR above 50).
  • Your child cannot have taken certain antibiotics (tetracyclines) in the last 2 weeks or have a known allergy to tetracyclines.
  • Your child cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding, and if sexually active, must agree to use two forms of birth control.
  • Your child cannot have a weakened immune system (like from an organ transplant, cancer treatment, or long-term high-dose steroids).
