Who can take part

  • You are getting your first or second kidney transplant from a living or deceased donor.
  • You are on standard anti-rejection medicines: tacrolimus or cyclosporine plus mycophenolate mofetil and steroids.
  • Your BMI is between 18 and 35.
  • You do not have active infections like HIV, hepatitis B or C, or CMV at the time of transplant.
  • You do not have serious liver disease, recent heart attack, or uncontrolled diabetes.
