Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • MRI shows a herniated disc at L5-S1 pressing on the S1 nerve root.
  • You have low back and leg pain that hasn't gotten better with nonsurgical treatments (like rest, therapy, or medication).
  • You have not had surgery on your lower back or any other condition listed in the exclusion criteria (like cancer, infection, pregnancy, or bleeding problems).
  • You have not received a steroid injection in your spine within the last 3 months.
