Heart recovery after surgery for leaky aortic valve

Aortic Valve RegurgitationMitral Valve RegurgitationLeft Ventricle DilatedLeft Atrium DilatedSystolic Left Ventricular Heart FailureDiastolic Heart Failure

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This trial studies how well the heart's main pumping chamber (left ventricle) recovers after surgery to fix a leaky aortic valve. It is for people who also have a leaky mitral valve and an enlarged left ventricle, and who are having their first planned valve surgery.

  • You also have a leaky mitral valve (functional mitral regurgitation)
  • Your left ventricle (main pumping chamber) is enlarged, with a volume of 250 mL or more

NCT05438862Recruiting
Early aortic valve surgery versus watchful waiting

This trial compares two approaches for people with a leaking aortic valve but no symptoms: early surgery or careful monitoring (“watchful waiting”). It aims to see which strategy better prevents future heart problems and when surgery is most helpful.

NCT07205393Recruiting
Heart rehab after valve replacement surgery

This trial tests a phase one cardiac rehabilitation program for people who have had their mitral or aortic heart valve replaced. It aims to see if the rehab helps recovery. You might qualify if you had planned (not emergency) valve surgery and are stable enough for light exercise.

NCT06066970Recruiting
Studying heart markers after valve surgery

This trial uses a special MRI and blood tests to see how heart muscle is affected after aortic or mitral valve surgery. It may help doctors better understand and monitor heart recovery.

Heart surgery recovery registry study

This study collects information from people having heart surgery to help doctors learn more about recovery. If you are scheduled for surgery during the study period, you may be able to join.

NCT05310461Recruiting
Early or delayed valve surgery for mixed heart valve disease

This study compares doing aortic valve replacement sooner versus waiting, in people with moderate aortic valve narrowing plus at least moderate leakage in the mitral valve. It aims to see which timing improves heart symptoms and outcomes while keeping treatment safe.

Heart valve reconstruction using your own tissue

This trial studies a surgery to repair the aortic valve using tissue taken from your body. It may help people with significant valve problems, by testing whether this reconstruction approach works and is safe.
