- You are 18 years old or older.
- You are having or recently had an emergency surgery (not a planned procedure).
- Your surgery was for one of these reasons: appendicitis, a gallbladder attack, a hernia that got stuck, a hole in your bowel, or a blockage in your bowel.
- You are able to give your permission (consent) to take part in the study.
- Your surgeon did not need to leave your belly open during surgery.
