Who can take part
- You have rectal cancer that is 0 to 12 cm from the anal opening (lower or middle part of the rectum).
- Your cancer has at least one high-risk feature, like being T4, N2, close to the mesorectal fascia, having involved lymph nodes, or EMVI positivity.
- You have not had prior treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, or major surgery) for rectal cancer.
- You are 18 or older and in good general health (able to do daily activities).
- You do not have distant metastases (cancer spread to other organs) or tumors with microsatellite instability (MSI-H).
- You do not have metal implants or a pacemaker that would prevent hyperthermia, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
