Who can take part

  • You must be in cardiogenic shock (blood pressure low despite medication, and lactate level high).
  • Your shock must be due to a heart attack, severe infection, or acute heart failure.
  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You cannot have been on blood pressure support drugs for more than 16 hours before starting the study drug.
  • You cannot have been in the intensive care unit for more than 24 hours when you are randomly assigned to a treatment group.
