Who can take part

  • You have rectal adenocarcinoma (a type of rectal cancer) confirmed by biopsy.
  • Tumor is at or below 15 cm from the anal opening by colonoscopy and is stage cT3/cT4 N0 or cT(any) N1/2 (locally advanced but not spread to distant organs).
  • No signs of cancer spread to other parts of the body (no distant metastases).
  • Your tumor shows intact mismatch repair proteins (called pMMR or MSS), meaning it is not the MSI-H type.
  • You have not had prior radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery for rectal cancer.
  • You are age 18 or older and have a good performance status (ECOG 0 or 1).
