Who can take part

  • You must have been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (a cancer in the back of the nose and throat).
  • Your cancer must not have spread to other parts of your body (like the lungs or bones).
  • You must be between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You must be in generally good health (able to do daily activities without help).
  • You cannot have had radiation therapy to your head or neck before.
  • You cannot have had another type of cancer in the last 5 years.

Radiation therapy alone for early-stage nasopharyngeal cancer

This trial tests whether intense radiation therapy (IMRT) alone is effective for people with stage IB nasopharyngeal carcinoma (a type of head and neck cancer) that has not spread to lower lymph nodes or formed large, matted nodes.
