Who can take part
- You have newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma (a specific head and neck cancer).
- You are between 18 and 70 years old.
- Cancer is stage IB (T1-2N1M0) according to the AJCC staging system.
- Swollen lymph nodes are only in the upper neck (at or above the hyoid bone).
- You have a good performance status (ECOG 0-2) meaning you are up and about at least half the day.
- Bone marrow function is adequate (routine blood tests would show this).
