Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You are in generally good health (classified as ASA I to III by your anesthesiologist).
  • You are scheduled for a lumbar microdiscectomy (a type of back surgery to remove part of a disk).
  • You do not have a known allergy to local anesthetics (numbing medicines).
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You do not have a pre-existing serious mental health or neurological condition.
