Who can take part

  • You are between 40 and 75 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with low bone density (osteopenia or osteoporosis) by a DXA scan.
  • You are willing to have a blood test to check for a specific change in your VDR gene.
  • You have not used strong bone medications (like bisphosphonates or teriparatide) in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have severe kidney or liver problems, or uncontrolled thyroid disease.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
