Who can take part

  • You are between 3 months and 17 years old
  • You are currently in the hospital or emergency department for a lower respiratory tract infection
  • You have not taken antibiotics in the last week
  • You do not have sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, or other chronic lung diseases except asthma
  • You are not on chemotherapy or strong immunosuppressive drugs
  • You do not have serious neurological, metabolic, or heart conditions
