Who can take part

  • You are between 16 and 80 years old, male or female.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 24 or higher.
  • You do not have serious liver disease or kidney problems.
  • Your diabetes is well-controlled (HbA1c less than 9.5%) and you are not on certain weight-affecting diabetes medications.
  • You are not a heavy drinker (no more than 2 drinks per day for men, 1 for women), do not have active cancer, and are not planning to change your diet or exercise routine drastically.
