Who can take part

  • You are between 21 and 70 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is over 27.5.
  • Waist size is more than 90 cm (men) or 80 cm (women).
  • You have type 2 diabetes that is not well-controlled (HbA1c over 6.5%) or fatty liver disease (MASLD) — or both.
  • You do not drink more than 21 alcoholic drinks per week (men) or 14 drinks per week (women).
  • You are willing to stop any weight-loss medications for at least 3 months before the study starts.
