Shoe insert study for hip pain

This study tests whether a special shoe insert can help people with one-sided hip pain (on the outside of the hip) stand better, move more easily, and feel less pain. You would use the insert and have supervised sessions weekly for 12 weeks.

Who can take part

  • You have had pain on the outside of one hip for more than 3 months.
  • Your hip pain is at least a 3 out of 10 on a pain scale.
  • The pain is felt when pressing on the outside of the hip or when doing certain hip movements.
  • You are not already using custom shoe inserts.
  • You have not had hip, knee, or ankle joint replacement on the painful side.
  • You agree to attend one supervised therapy session each week for 12 weeks.
