Who can take part

  • Your baby is 16 weeks old (plus or minus 7 days).
  • Your baby is generally healthy and has already received the recommended infant vaccines, including one dose of the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) at 6 weeks.
  • Your baby has never received any oral polio vaccine (OPV) before.
  • Everyone in your household under 10 years old is up to date on their polio vaccines.
  • No one in your household has received OPV or an experimental polio vaccine in the past 3 months.
  • Your baby was not born prematurely (before 37 weeks) and weighed at least 5.5 pounds (2500 grams) at birth.
