Comparing two lymph node surgeries for certain endometrial cancers

This trial tests whether removing only the first lymph node to detect cancer spread (sentinel node mapping) is as effective as removing all lymph nodes in the pelvic area (comprehensive lymphadenectomy) for a specific type of endometrial cancer with a p53 mutation, stages I–II. The goal is to see if the less extensive surgery can result in similar outcomes while possibly reducing side effects.

Who can take part

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have a high-risk endometrial cancer with a confirmed p53 mutation from a biopsy or curettage within the last 2 months
  • Have had an MRI showing your cancer is at stage I or II (confined to uterus, ovary, or cervix)
  • Are scheduled for surgery to remove the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes (and possibly omentum for certain types)
  • Are healthy enough for a full pelvic lymph node removal by laparoscopy
