Who can take part
- You are 80 years old or older
- You have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation
- You have had a stroke or a transient ischemic attack in the past
- You have at least one bleeding risk factor, such as low body weight (under 60 kg), reduced kidney function (creatinine clearance under 50), a prior major or gastrointestinal bleed, or current use of certain medications like aspirin, blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory drugs
- You have never used stronger blood thinners like warfarin in the past month, or heparin or other direct oral anticoagulants in the past week, and you are not allergic to edoxaban
- You are not on regular kidney dialysis
