Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for elective lumbar disc surgery (a planned operation on your lower back).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 25 and 30.
  • You have an ASA physical status of I or II (generally healthy or mild health problems).
  • You do not have chronic pain or take blood thinners like warfarin.
  • You are not allergic to the medicines used in nerve blocks, and you have no infection or bleeding issues at the injection site.
  • You can give written permission to participate in the trial.
