Who can take part

  • Your baby is born before 28 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Or your baby weighs 1,000 grams (about 2.2 pounds) or less at birth.
  • Your baby survives at least 12 hours after birth.
  • Your baby can be enrolled within the first 96 hours (4 days) after birth.
  • Your baby does not have a major birth defect, a clear non-bacterial infection, or a condition where intensive care is being limited or withdrawn.
