Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 55 years old.
- You were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the last 6 months.
- Your body still makes at least some insulin (a test called C-peptide shows this).
- You have a certain immune system gene (HLA-DRB1*04:01) that is common in type 1 diabetes.
- You are willing to undergo a procedure called leukapheresis (similar to donating blood cells) and use birth control if needed.
- You do not have other serious health problems or active autoimmune diseases (except well-managed thyroid, celiac, or vitiligo).
