Protein-controlled diet for kidney disease management

This trial tests a low-protein diet (called PLADO) to help manage chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 3–5. It aims to slow kidney decline and improve nutrition. You may join if your kidney function is stable and your blood sugar and blood pressure are under control.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You have chronic kidney disease stages 3–5 with stable kidney function (eGFR 59 or lower for at least 3 months)
  • Your blood sugar and blood pressure are well-controlled with medication
  • You have normal nutritional health (checked by a standard assessment called GLIM)
  • You have not had an infection, severe loss of appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea in the past month
  • You do not have other serious conditions like cancer, tuberculosis, liver failure, or heart failure, and your potassium level has been normal in the last 6 months
