  • You are a female athlete, 16 to 35 years old.
  • You have low iron stores (ferritin level 50 mcg/L or less).
  • You are a highly trained or elite athlete (national or international level).
  • You can swallow a large capsule (about 1 inch long).
  • You have not taken iron supplements or certain medications in the last 3 months.
  • You are not pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
